The death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has come as a tremendous blow to us all.
For many of us, she is the only monarch we have ever known, a constant in our life. Through times of turmoil and tranquility, she was there, it is only when something so constant, so permanent is gone that we truly realise what we have lost.
The sudden change is a tremendous and deeply saddening shock.
Her Majesty’s life was one of remarkable service, putting our nation and others before herself. She reigned with dignity, humanity and selflessness. She embodied the idea of service above self.
On behalf of all members of the Conservative Group on Sefton Council, I extend my deepest condolences to the Royal Family.
Across Sefton, people will be able to pay their respects and Books of Condolence will be opened at The Atkinson in Southport and Bootle Town Hall.
We will all now offer our support to King Charles III as he not only grieves but takes on the role of head of state.
Long live the King.
Cllr Mike Prendergast, Conservative Group Leader on Sefton Council
