The progress that has been made with safety at the Crescent Road railway crossing has been
acknowledged and appreciated by local residents who have fed back to Birkdale Conservative
Candidate, Lee Durkin, Dukes Ward Conservative Candidate Mike Prendergast and Cllr Sir Ron
Watson.
Further plans to enhance safety, particularly in respect of permanent barriers, similar to
those that are already in place in numerous parts of the Northern Line, will be another important
step forward.
Candidate Lee Durkin said;
‘It’s great to see these improvements being made. Looking to the future it will be important to
improve the condition of Grosvenor Road and Crescent Road, with it experiencing consistently high
levels of traffic. We need to continue to work to get the area the attention it needs.’
Candidate Mike Prendergast added;
‘My colleague Sir Ron and others in the Conservative group locally are constantly at work to
improve this area for transport. The attention we are giving now to the line builds on the success
that the Conservatives have had in reaching an agreement that Hillside Station is to have disabled
access for the first time and the co-operation of all those involved on a pragmatic basis has been
very positive.’
The group continue to deliver surveys to the area, so if you’re a local you may soon have the chance
to have your voice heard.
