A stretch of Water Lane in Crossens, which has been the focus of local concern about speed, will have new ‘SLOW’ road markings installed by Sefton Council, following an intervention by local candidate Thomas de Freitas.
De Freitas, who is a candidate in the upcoming local elections for Meols ward, says he is happy that a positive result has been achieved.
“ Speeding is a common occurrence down Water Lane, with some motorists ignoring the speed limit change from 40 to 30 in the run-up to the roundabout.
“ This issue was raised with me earlier this month by a number of residents in the areas surrounding Water Lane, and I argued their case with Sefton Council.
“ The Council, to their credit, accepted my representations, and have informed me that ‘SLOW’ road markings will be installed. It isn’t a silver bullet, but it is an acknowledgement of the issue and a good starting point.
Sefton Council have confirmed that they have placed an order for the road markings on Water Lane, just past the entrance to Baytree Close.
The job is now with the Council’s contractor, who will complete the work in the coming weeks subject to weather conditions. De Freitas says he will monitor the works’ progress, and has written to residents in the area to inform them of the development.
