Last week, the people of Southport made sure that their voice was heard by voting in local elections, Police and Crime Commissioner elections and Liverpool City Region mayoral elections.
Mike Prendergast said, ‘Myself and Sinclair d’Albuquerque were elected to represent Dukes Ward and Cambridge Ward respectively. The Conservatives in Southport made tremendous gains with the highest number of votes across all seven wards.
I would like to thank those who took part in the electoral process including all candidates, staff at the polling station and the count and the many volunteers who spent countless hours delivering leaflets and canvassing.
Most importantly of all though, I would like to thank the voters for putting their faith in me and my Conservative colleagues.
Myself and councillor Sir Ron Watson CBE, will be getting straight to work to deal with the numerous issues that have been raised by residents and businesses over the last few weeks and months.’
Sir Ron Watson said, ‘I am delighted that after a great deal of hard work Mike Prendergast is joining me as a Dukes Ward Conservative Councillor.
As a Dukes Ward resident he is involved in so many of those local issues that are important to us and we will both be concentrating on the top priorities which people have shared their concerns with us such as parking restrictions, cycle lanes, basic pothole and road repairs, elements of flooding and tree preservation and replacement. We will also be exposing the abuse of power by the Labour Party and the secrecy that surrounds much of what they do.’
The Conservatives have stated they will continue to work hard for Southport residents and businesses to ensure that our town is a better place to live, work and visit.
